Getting your floors stripped and waxed can be a nerve-wracking experience. You want to ensure that they don’t get damaged—or change colors—in the process. In general, here is what a floor waxing service with Kiwi will look like:
- A thorough cleaning
Before a coat of wax even touches your floor, it’s first things first: Your floor has to be cleaner than a whistle. Your technician will arrive, evaluate your flooring, and then start the cleaning process to ensure that every surface of the floor is completely rid of dust. If we didn’t start out the process this way, the stripping solution wouldn’t apply evenly and it could make a huge mess of your floors.
- The stripping solution is applied
After they’ve ensured that the floor is completely free of debris, your tech will apply the stripping solution. Then, using a wet-dry vacuum, they will remove the sealant and floor finish. This step in the process may take the longest, as they will need to continually change out their mop buckets with clean water as to make sure that every single bit of the finish is taken out. After this step has been completed, the floor will be rinsed entirely and the stripping solution will be gone.
- A mopping to clean the floors before the wax is applied
Before the wax is applied (the final step), your technician will mop the floors thoroughly to get every last square inch of stripping solution out of the flooring. This step could take one hour to several, which will largely depend on how big the area they’re treating is.
- The wax is applied
Finally, your technician will apply the floor wax. The wax is applied in sections and will take several coats. Your technician will painstakingly ensure that the wax is applied evenly and efficiently to get your floors gleaming.
